We’d like to give a special mention to Broadland Council Training Services this week. As mentioned in a recent feature, it was through one of their employment schemes that we discovered our colleague Gemma, all the way back in 2003, and it has proved to be an extremely effective partnership.
Broadland Council Training Services are training specialists, offering apprenticeships, management and business training and foundation and skills for life programmes. In addition to their venues across the city of Norwich, BCTS are also able to offer on-site training across Norfolk, with courses tailored to individual companies’ requirements.
Not long after signing up to BCTS, our colleague Gemma became an assistant to Mike, setting up photoshoots in the studio and on location and organising client meetings. She has always excelled at maintaining strong relationships with clients, and is now successfully turning her hand towards the postproduction side of photography.
The service always encourages its students to take responsibility for their own development, and Gemma stands as an ideal example of this. In addition to training schemes, BCTS offer day release programmes and support to acquire professional qualifications.
Courses are not only offered to individuals looking for work, however. Courses and advice are also offered to start-ups and small businesses, with training available in areas such as sales and marketing, business law and legislation, the employment of staff for the first time and supervisory and management training. Such training is frequently available free of charge.
If you think you might benefit from some input by BCTS, we’d recommend them for sure.
